Our Learning Environment

Our focus remains the raising of achievement through effective Teaching and Learning. To do this Ian Ramsey needs to be a working environment where students feel safe, secure, supported and rewarded for their achievements. Our policies for rewards and sanctions ensure that learning can take place and that pupils gain credit for their efforts.

Our facilities open at 8:00 am with two Breakfast Clubs (North Site/South Site). This staffed provision allows pupils to begin their learning early.

The Learning Resources Centre is open before and after school and is an excellent facility for computer and book based learning.

Each term we issue parents with an Extra Curricular programme which outlines the high number of extra classes and clubs put on by the school.

We unashamedly target Year 11 pupils in order to further raise their attainment. Strategies this year include:

  • A Year 11 mentoring scheme
  • One to One interview with the Headteacher and Deputies
  • Spring half term and Easter revision schools
  • A pupil calendar of Coursework deadlines issued
  • A comprehensive classes program
  • Revision planning
  • A Study Skills program
  • GCSE countdown
  • Revision incentives
  • SAM Learning
  • Over the Moon
  • 5 for 5 revision opportunity
