Election of Parent Governors – Multi Academy Trust
Following the numerous emails from members of the local community and former students of the school, please read our response to interest raised by the Chapel mosaic.
North Site Chapel Mosaic.
Ian Ramsey Church of England School was fortunate enough to be selected for the Priority Schools Building Programme last year and we have now moved into our fantastic new building. However, one of the saddest parts of this process is the demolishment of what was a well-loved building. Many of the Stockton community attended Ian Ramsey and are naturally interested in what happens to our artefacts.
One of the main artefacts that has centred in our discussions has been the mural of The Holy Spirit. Ian Ramsey’s Governing Body asked the Education Funding Agency if we could save the mural. Unfortunately, the school was informed that the cost of keeping the wall and the mosaic in situ would be prohibitive and, due to health and safety issues, nor would we be able to create a fenced area outside the new build.
The proposal, at present, is that we intend to create a large vinyl copy of the mosaic to display in an appropriate venue in the new build. We will make postcards/posters available for those wishing to have a lasting keep-sake of the mosaic. We are looking at the feasibility of dismantling the mosaic to allow sections to be given to interested parties.
Finally, a proposal is being put to the Governors from Student Voice to recreate the design elsewhere in school when the contractors have completed their landscaping later in 2015.
During this academic year, 2014/5, Ian Ramsey students will complete four PSHE days. These days will cover aspects of Sex and Relationships, Risk taking Behaviours, Careers (Education and Advice), STEM, Citizenship and Enterprise. During these days normal lessons will be collapsed and students will follow a different timetable. As always students will need to come prepared to work and with the correct equipment.
The following dates are set for this year:
DAY 1 Thursday 6th November 2014
DAY 2 to confirm in February 2015
DAY 3 Tuesday 17th March 2015
DAY 4 Monday 5th May 2015
If you would like to know more please contact the Pastoral Team at school.
Thank you to all parents/carers who stood for election and to those who voted. We really appreciate your support. Congratulations to Mrs Jayne Cook who was appointed a Ian Ramsey's Parent Champion.
A message from Jayne Cook
I am a mum of 2 children who in September will be at opposite ends of their journey at Ian Ramsey, in years 7 and 11. I am therefore not only interested in supporting short term improvements but also the long term sustainability of those plans. I am looking forward to helping and supporting parents through these changes and being the parental voice in decision making for improvement at Ian Ramsey.
Please feel free to email me any concerns you would like me to raise on your behalf.
